Studio PCA is designed to create professional work opportunities for students in the Performing and Communication Arts programs by producing projects that will serve the greater PCC community and beyond. Students will take what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it in more practical applications by producing educational, promotional, and entertainment assets needed by various groups on campus.

Students will have first-hand exposure to established professionals through ongoing industry events where they will get to engage with guest lecturers, as well as embark on a series of field trips to experience first-hand where the magic actually happens.

Goals

We aim to provide students with the necessary skills needed to help them with their transitions from the classroom to the professional arena. This includes training them to navigate the application and interview process; providing them with opportunities to interface with clients, producing projects from conception through to completion; giving students the all other tools a contract/freelance employees must implement, from using social media and web design to managing schedules and preparing documents such as release forms and approvals.

Through ongoing lectures, master classes, workshops, and on-site visits, we’ll create opportunities for students to directly interface with industry professionals, encouraging them to build networking skills helping them find success after graduation.

Eligibility

• Student candidate’s coarse focus must be within the Performing & Communications Arts Department
• Student candidate must complete at least 50% of their declared degree or certificate from approved list
• Candidate must complete an application, interview, and job profile Receive positive referral from PCA faculty member
• Accepted student to continue their studies and are hired to complete jobs, on a per project basis, throughout the academic year
