Frequently Asked Questions

A PCC club is a student organization developed by a group of like-minded people, who have the same academic, emotional, social, and political interests. This student-based organization will be officially recognized by the PCC Board of Trustees once it has met all requirements of the Inter-Club Council (ICC), Associated Students, and Pasadena City College policies and procedures.

ICC is the Inter-Club Council. This council is made up of one representative from each club.

As part of making a club official (a process known as chartering or registration), the club will select one person to represent them in the ICC. This council typically meets once a week on Fridays (bi-weekly later into a regular semester). Representatives are required to attend these meetings.

These meetings are where council members share and exchange information and vote on important topics.

If your club misses more than 3 meetings in a semester, your club will be de-chartered for the semester and it can no longer hold any meetings, events or request funding.

Being a PCC club has perks! Some of which are:

  • 💵 The ability to request money for your events and activities. This money is funded by students via the Student Activity Fee.
  • 📣 The ability to post flyers and banners to promote the club and any club events.
  • 🚪The ability to reserve rooms and campus facilities for events and meetings.
  • ⚖️ An insurance policy that covers any events and activities your club holds.

In order to be recognized on campus, a club must meet chartering requirements. Chartering a club requires that an enrolled PCC student go through the registration process on LancerLife - the online database of all clubs & organizations at PCC.

If you are interested in starting a club have the following information ready to make the registration process as smooth as possible:

  1. Basic Club Information: The name of the club and it’s mission statement, and where and when your club plans to meet.
  2. Club Leadership: In other words, the club officers. This group that will serve and represent the club. Clubs are required to have a President, ICC Representative, and Treasurer. and their student email addresses (ending in @go.pasadena.edu).
  3. Club Advisor: Pasadena City College (PCC) and Associated Students of Pasadena City College (ASPCC) require clubs to have at least one advisor, who is a Full-time faculty member of PCC. The advisor will advise the club and make sure the club is following club policies and procedures. It is highly recommended for a club to have several advisors just in case the primary advisor cannot attend the meeting.
  4. Club Constitution: This is a contract between the club, members, and club advisor that will be a set of guidelines to follow throughout the academic year. These guidelines align with the procedures and policies of PCC. A fillable template of a constitution can be found on LancerLife.
    • Note: If your club is re-registering you will be able to use your previous constitution.

Club officers can enroll in an online Canvas class (login required) to familiarize themselves with the processes and procedures of running a club.

The Office of Student Life offers Advisor Training for all new and continuing advisors.  It is required for an advisor to attended a training at least once a year.
