PCC Foundation Welcomes Dr. Amy Carnes to the Staff!

Amy M. Carnes, Ph.D. currently serves as Director, Operations and Development at Pasadena City College. Prior to joining PCC, Dr. Carnes worked at Human Rights Watch and the University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation.

During her 15-year tenure at USC Shoah Foundation, Dr. Carnes designed and delivered educational programs around the world, codified a visitor experience program for the organization’s new global headquarters, built a monitoring and evaluation system to demonstrate the Shoah Foundation’s impact, partnered with the advancement team to support fundraising efforts and the work of the board of councilors, and ultimately served as Chief of Staff to multiple leaders.

Dr. Carnes’ academic expertise is related to the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, and her content knowledge of testimony-based education and genocide studies has had her presenting around the world at conferences, colloquia and other forums.

She earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from UCLA in French and Francophone Studies, following a B.A. at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in French. A budding ceramic artist and dog lover, she lives in Claremont with her spouse, Joel, and their two children.
