Forwarding and Redirecting Email
You can also choose to forward or redirect your employee email to your personal email address.
Forwarding EmailForwarding emails
What is Forwarding Emails?
When you choose to forward emails your PCC emails will be forwarded to the email address you designate (i.e. your personal email address). The forwarded emails will arrive to your personal email address as if the original email came from your @pasadena.edu address. When replying, you won’t be able to reply to the original sender automatically and instead will need to manually add the sender's email address.
Example of forwarding emails:
- student@gmail.com sends you an Email to your @pasadena.edu address.
- Your PCC Email will then forward the student’s Email to your designated Email (i.e. instructor@yahoo.com).
- When you check your yahoo Email, you will see the student’s Email but it will be shown as coming from your
- pasadena.edu account in the “From” field (see below diagram for visual)
- When replying to the student, you will need to enter the student’s student@gmail.com address into the “To” field otherwise the email will be sent to your @pasadena.edu.
Redirecting Emails
What is Redirecting Emails?
When you choose to redirect emails your PCC emails will be redirected to to the email address you designate (i.e. your personal email address). This will redirect the emails as if they came directly from the original sender’s email address and you will be able to reply directly to them (without having to manually add their email address).
Example of redirecting emails:
- student@gmail.com sends you an Email to your @pasadena.edu address.
- your PCC Email will then redirect the student’s Email to your designated Email (i.e. instructor@yahoo.com).
- when you check your yahoo Email, you will see the student’s Email shown in the “From” field (see below diagram for visual)
- when you check your yahoo Email, you will see the student’s Email and can reply directly to student@gmail.com without changing the “To” Email address.
