The Keck Biotechnology Program offers five different certificate programs, each preparing you for entry-level positions in the field of biotechnology in high-tech industry and research institutions.
During the program, you will get hands-on work experience in the biotechnology industry, learn from industry speakers about current advances in biotechnology, and take tours of local biotech facilities.
The Keck Biotechnology Program is interdisciplinary, including courses and practical training in math, chemistry, biology, computer skills, and English. Courses focus on practical laboratory skills combined with training in a working laboratory setting.
You will be kept informed on current advances in biotechnology by speakers from industry, internet assignments and tours of local biotech facilities. This program offers classroom instruction and supervised work experience in the biotechnology industry. You must be willing to spend a considerable amount of time working on long-term projects and participating in outreach programs to the community.

Requirements for Admission
To be selected for the Keck Biotechnology Program you must:
- Have graduated from an accredited high school or equivalent with a 2.0 GPA
- Complete an application for admission to the program
- Have a minimum 2.0 GPA in all college level work

How to Join the Keck Biotechnology Program
Application for the Keck Biotechnology Certificate Program may be made at any time. Applicants are on a first-come first-served basis and are accepted for the next Biology 102A course. We encourage you to spend the intervening time working on the general requirements, increasing your computer skills and participating in other program activities.
