Hixon-Polytechnic Internship Opportunity
About the Internship
Polytechnic School, an independent K-12 school in Pasadena, provides a unique blend of traditional and innovational approaches to teaching the whole child, making it an exceptional place for children to learn and to grow. Every year, the Hixon program and Polytechnic partner up to provide 7-10 paid internships to PCC students interested in gaining real-world experiences in the classroom and learning with credentialed educators. Interns have an amazing opportunity to work with expert mentor teachers in diverse subjects in grades 2-8 and will observe and experience best teaching and learning practices in elementary and middle school classrooms.
Hixon Spring Scholarships
In an effort to continuously support PCC students interested in teaching as a career, the Hixon program provides over $10,000 in scholarships qualifying students. The funds are a result of the generosity of the late Alexander and Adelaide Hixon.
There are many jobs for students interested in gaining real-world experiences in the classroom. EdJoin is an online job board that can help students find open positions in the field of education.
The Robert G. Freeman Center (Career Center) at Pasadena City College also offers a variety of resources for students looking for jobs, from workshops on resume-building to interviewing, as well as job-search support.
