Books and Reserves
Instructor Reserves
Consider placing your books or DVDs on Reserve behind the Circulation Desk for students to use throughout the semester. These items have restricted loan periods. Students may use library scanners to save PDF copies of book pages at their discretion.
Textbooks
The library manages a collection of textbooks for students to use within the library. We can’t purchase all textbooks, but will consider requests if faculty are unable to supply a copy to Instructor Reserves. For more information, contact our Library Acquisitions team.
Suggest a Purchase
We welcome faculty input on library acquisitions. Help us improve our collection by suggesting books and other materials for purchase. Contact your Library Liaison with suggestions or fill out our online Suggest a Purchase form.
Open Educational Resources (OER)
Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational resources that are freely available
and mainly found online: therefore, an OER textbook is a free textbook. Students can
now search the PCC course schedule for “Zero Textbook Cost” classes which utilize
OER.
Adopting an OER textbook for your course is beneficial for many reasons:
- OER textbooks reduce the financial barriers of higher education for students
- OER textbooks can be more flexible and adaptable than traditional print textbooks
- Students can access OER textbooks immediately on the first day of class
Interested in seeing whether there is an existing OER textbook for your course? Please check PCC’s OER Research Guide.
