APIDA Advisory Assembly (AAA)

The APIDA Advisory Assembly (AAA) advocates for your needs to ensure Pasadena City College provides a safe and enriching environment. AAA draws from the strengths and experiences of student advisors to support the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community. PCC’s location at the heart of the San Gabriel Valley makes it a bustling educational hub for the local APIDA community pursuing higher education, and personal or professional growth.

Mission

Through constant engagement with our community, we strive to amplify the voices of the APIDA community and advocate for their needs, interrupting any systemic issues that may impede higher learning. AAA seeks to pursue work that is culturally affirming and showcases pride in our APIDA identity, while also collaborating with other student advisory groups, Equipo and BLACC, to develop race-conscious programming to improve collective equity and allyship at PCC.

History

The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Advisory Assembly, also known as the Student Advisory Board, was established in 2022 as part of our mission as a minority-serving institution, encompassing our roles as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and a developing Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI). This initiative is funded through a partnership with Institutional Equity Diversity and Justice, the UPREACH Title V grant, and the AANHPI Student Achievement Program. These partnerships highlight PCC’s dedication to amplifying students' voices and integrating their ideas, perspectives, and insights into the development of campus activities, policies, practices, and proposals, ensuring they are equitable and student-centered.
