Section IVA: Decision-making Roles And Processes

What is needed?

Institutional leaders create and encourage innovation leading to institutional excellence. They support administrators, faculty, staff, and students, no matter what their official titles, in taking initiative for improving the practices, programs, and services in which they are involved.

One example of what we do:

College leadership consistently demonstrates a deep respect for the role that all members of the campus community play in improving practices and processes at the College. Innovation from all areas is encouraged. The governance structure of the College ensures that all campus constituencies are represented in decision-making processes that affect the institution. Planning and resource allocation processes are transparent and focus on achieving the College’s Mission.

Section IVB: Chief Executive Officer

What is needed?

The institutional chief executive officer (CEO) has primary responsibility for the quality of the institution. The CEO provides effective leadership in planning, organizing, budgeting, selecting, and developing personnel, and assessing institutional effectiveness.

One example of what we do:

The Superintendent/President provides leadership and oversight in planning, organizing, and budgeting, and the selection and professional development of College personnel. The Superintendent/President, as stipulated in Board Bylaws, Superintendent/President job description, and administrative procedures, bears primary responsibility for institutional effectiveness.

Section IVC: Governing Board

What is needed?

PCC has a governing board that has authority over and responsibility for policies to assure the academic quality, integrity, and effectiveness of the student learning programs and services and the financial stability of the institution.

One example of what we do:

Board Policies clearly identify the Board of Trustees as having ultimate authority over academic quality, integrity, and effectiveness of the student learning programs and services and the financial stability of the institution.
