2020Vision

When I retired from my career in the financial services industry, I became active on educational and charitable boards.  I enjoy my role as President of the Pasadena City College Foundation and look forward to continuing to serve my community. The Foundation has exposed me to the enormous impact and influence PCC has on the City of Pasadena, surrounding communities, its citizens and businesses. Recently, I added a new role at Pasadena City College. In the Fall of 2019 I became a student again. I am pursuing an interest in Radio Broadcasting and Communications. PCC offers a variety of classes in radio and broadcasting and has a complete broadcast radio station, LancerRadioNetwork.org that also offers a high tech learning lab.

One of my first class assignments was to select four services at PCC to conduct on air interviews. Essentially, I became a field producer overnight! One of the services I chose was the Lancer Pantry.  This edition of IMPACT will give you an introduction to The Pantry and why it is so important to so many PCC students. The Pantry distributes over 2,000 pounds of food a week, meeting one of the most fundamental needs of many students.

My personal experience as a student only underscores that the PCC Foundation is right on track as it recognizes the needs and opportunities of our students. 2020Vision, our new strategic plan, focuses on the students and the communities we serve. Our top priority is to expand support services to students by augmenting the Foundation’s existing student scholarship program.  We currently provide scholastic support such as tuition, books, supplies, etc.  Our strategic plan calls for a new program of Student Sponsorships which will provide personal support such as food, shelter, transportation, childcare, etc.

We have already begun the work, and we welcome your participation.  You can support this important effort with your ideas, your time, and your donations. You can see our full strategic plan here at https://pasadena.edu/foundation/about/
