PCC's Parent Education courses provide a supportive and stimulating environment for parents and children’s optimal learning experience.

  • PAR 7617C - Getting Your 4-year old Ready for Kindergarten
  • PAR 7618A - Stage of Development: 2 years old
  • PAR 7618B - Your Growing Family: 0-5 years old
  • PAR 7680A - Infant Parenting: 0-6 months
  • PAR 7680B - Parenting in the First Year: 0-12 months old
  • PAR 7680C - Infant Parenting: 7-12 months
  • PAR 7681A - Parenting Your Toddler: 13-17 months
  • PAR 7681B - Parenting Your Toddler: 18-23 months
  • PAR 7682 - Parenting Your Preschool Age Child: 2-4 years old
  • PAR 7683 - Multi-Age Parenting: 0-5 years old 

The class you choose is determined by the age of the child at the start of the current Fall semester (cut off date is September 1st). If the child misses the cutoff date by even one day, parent must register in the younger age group.

Courses are offered across various locations in the community. Areas include:

  • Altadena
  • Arcadia
  • Pasadena
  • Sierra Madre
  • South Pasadena
  • Temple City

 

The following items are required to participate in our Parent Education classes:

  • Funding is dependent on participation. In order to keep classes state funded, students need to arrive to class on time and sign-in
  • Proof of a negative TB test within the last 4 years
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Enrollment is limited to 2 classes per family
  • A registered adult must remain with child in class
  • The student must be registered in the proper age group for the child. If the child’s birth date misses the cutoff date (September 1st) by even ONE DAY, please enroll in the younger age group. Siblings must be within the designated age categories of the class. 

Steps to Get Started

  1. Check course availability in Schedule of Classes

    To find Parent Education courses in the class schedule, look for the subject “Parent Education”

  2. Choose which type of student you are:

    Follow these steps if you are new to PCC OR returning after an absence of 1 or more major semester(s):

    1. Apply to Noncredit
      • Create an OpenCCC account if you don’t have one already.

    2. Receive Welcome Letter via email

    3. Activate your LancerPoint account

    4. Check your Registration Status Date in LancerPoint

    5. Register for classes in LancerPoint using CRN# 

      • Make sure to check Parent Ed requirements to participate in class (i.e. child’s birth certificate, proof of negative TB Test, etc..)

    Follow these steps if you are a current or continuing PCC student (noncredit or credit):

    1. Check your Registration Status Date in LancerPoint

    2. Register for classes in LancerPoint using CRN#

      • Make sure to check Parent Ed requirements to participate in class (i.e. child’s birth certificate, proof of negative TB Test, etc..)
