Together with the Association of Latino Employees, the Cross Cultural Center is proud to present a series of events in celebration of Latinx Heritage Month. There are weekly offerings that include lectures by our very own distinguished staff and faculty; performances; film screenings; and more. Here's a listing of the events:

  • Oct. 4, The Circadian, 5:30 p.m.: "Community Nights: Journeys of the Latinx Community," with Carlos "Tito" Altamirano, Michaela Mares-Tamayo, Ruby Solis, and Angie Solis

  • Oct. 8, Creveling Lounge, 5 p.m.: "Sembrando Memorias Nuestras Raíces: Planting Memories of our Roots," interactive exhibit with visual artist Mario Sibaja

  • Oct. 9, C-311, 12 noon: "Brick People" screening and discussion with Cristina Salazar-Romo and Anthony Francoso

  • Oct. 10, C-311, 12 noon: "Supporting First Generation Latina/o College Students to Reach Their Academic Goals," presented by Maribel Morales

  • Oct. 11, The Quad, 12:30 p.m.: Aztlán Unearthed musical performance and artist talk

  • Oct. 12, various locations, various times: New Lancer Family Day

  • Oct. 13, Villa Parke Community Center (363 E. Villa St., Pasadena), 10 a.m.: Latino Hertiage Parade and Festival

  • Oct. 15, Creveling Lounge, 5:30 p.m.: "The Majority Report: Supporting the Success of Latina/o Students in California," presented by Mayra A. Lara, Education Trust-West
