Geo Alignment
In the Spring of 2013, all departments at Pasadena City College began aligning their
course student learning outcomes to the College's General Education Outcomes. Aligning
course SLOs with the GEOs ensures that students experience an integrated curriculum
that allows repeated opportunities throughout their education to develop competence
in the GEOs. In deciding whether a course level SLO aligns with a GEO, these three
critieria are helpful:
- Is it part of the curriculum? Do you teach it?
- Do students have the opportunity to practice it?
- Do you assess it and give students feedback on their performance?

Example
Course level outcome: Students will analyze works of art using art theory.
General Education Outcome: Read and comprehend written material critically and effectively at the appropriate program level.
