The Scorecard formerly known as the ARCC report was released on April 9, 2013 by the California Community College Chancellor's Office (CCCCO). The Scorecard replaces the ARCC accountability framework with more dynamic and detailed measures of student progress and achievement.
The Scorecard metrics are designed to measure both intermediate progress and completion for students with the ability for the college to analyze data by student demographics (age, gender and ethnicity). Although the Scorecard metrics are similar to the ARCC indicators from previous accountability reports, there are some significant differences.
Latest Student Success Scorecard
SPAR: Student Progress and Completion Rate - the percentage of degree and/or transfer-seeking first-time students tracked for 6 years who complete a degree, certificate or transfer related outcomes (transferred to a 4-year institution or completed 60 transferable units with a 2.0 GPA). The rate is tracked for college prepared students and those whose lowest attempted math or English course was remedial.
Persistence: The percentage of degree and/or transfer-seeking first-time students who enroll in three consecutive primary terms (fall and spring). This is a revised rate; the previous Persistence rate was fall to fall only. Research shows that students with sustained enrollments are more likely to succeed.
30 Units: The percentage of degree and/or transfer-seeking first time students who earn at least 30 units after six-years. The completion of 30 college units is positively correlated with completion and wage gain. The rate is tracked for college prepared students and those whose lowest attempted math or English course was remedial.
Remedial Progress Rate - English, math and ESL: The percentage of credit students who start out at any level below transfer in English, math, and/or ESL and complete a college level course in the same discipline within six years.
Career Technical Education (CTE): The percentage of students who completed a CTE course for the first-time and completed more than 8 units in the subsequent three years in a single discipline with a vocational TOP code and who completed a degree, certificate, transferred or became transferred prepared within six years. This is a new metric.
