The requirements for Assessment Exams have changed and are no longer required for all students. Please review carefully to see if you need to take an Assessment exam.

The math, English and ESL Assessment Exams are tests used to measure your abilities, and skills in the subject. The results of the exams are used to place you in the appropriate level of English, ESL, and Math courses that you should enroll in at PCC.

Who Needs to Take an Assessment Exam?

Assessment Exams for Math and English/ESL are only required for:

  • ESL Students
  • International Students (F1 Visa)
  • Students who graduated more than 10 years ago
  • Dual Enrollment and Concurrent Enrollment Students if class specifically mentions the English or ESL and Math exam as a requirement

For all other students, your placement is based on your high school courses and grades. You do not need to take an Assessment Exam. Instead, check LancerPoint to see your math and English placement. If you do not see your placements in LancerPoint, use your high school transcript to request for placement through our online prerequisite clearance form.
