In order to continue your collegiate athletic career after PCC, you must meet certain academic eligibility requirements. These requirements are mandated by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and vary by the various divisions. You can further discuss how to meet these requirements with one of our counselors for student athletes. Featured below are the requirement summaries for the various NCAA athletic divisions.


First Things First:
Are you a Qualifier or a Non-Qualifier?


Your transfer requirements to the NCAA are determined by your qualifier status, which is based on your academic record from high school (sliding scale between your GPA in your core classes and your SAT/ACT score) - Click below for the required courses/sliding scale and how to start the process of determining your qualifier status.

NCAA Division I

Transfer Requirements (for Qualifiers who have never attended a four-year)
1. Complete at least one semester as a full-time student (12 units)
2. Complete an average of 12 transferable units in each term attended full-time
3. Earn a GPA of 2.5 in those transferable units
**Only 2 units of PE (KATH/KINA) will be used to calculate units and GPA 

Transfer Requirements (for Non-Qualifiers who have never attended a four-year)
1. Graduate - AA/AS Degree (60 transferrable units, 18 of those in a specific major)
2. Complete at least three full-time semesters
3. Complete at least 48 transferable units, including:
 - 6 units of transferrable English (1A and 1B/1C)
 - 3 units of transferrable math (3, 8, Stat 18/50, etc…)
 - 3 units of transferrable natural/physical science
4. Earn a GPA of 2.5 in those transferable units
**Only 2 units of PE (KATH/KINA) will be used to calculate units and GPA


40/60/80 Rule – Transferring to a D-I school

  • Before your 5th full-time semester, you must have completed 40% of your bachelor's degree
  • Before your 7th full-time semester, you must have completed 60% of your bachelor's degree
  • Before your 9th full-time semester, you must have completed 80% of your bachelor's degree.


Division 1 (4-2-4 Transfer)
Transfer Requirements (for Qualifiers who have attended a four-year, and now attend a two-year)
1. Graduate from your two-year school
2. Complete an average of 12 transferable units in each term attended full-time
3. Earn a GPA of 2.5 in those transferable units
    **Only 2 units of PE (KATH/KINA) will be used to calculate units and GPA 
AND
4. One calendar year elapsed since your last day of enrollment at your four-year school

Transfer Requirements (for Non-Qualifiers who have attended a four-year, and now attend a two-year)
1. Graduate from your two-year school
2. Complete an average of 12 transferable units per term attended full-time, including:
 - 6 units of transferrable English (1A and 1B/1C)
 - 3 units of transferrable math (3, 8, Stat 18/50, etc…)
 - 3 units of transferrable natural/physical science
3. Earn a GPA of 2.5 in those transferable units
**Only 2 units of PE (KATH/KINA) will be used to calculate units and GPA
AND
4. One calendar year elapsed since your last day of enrollment at your four-year school


NCAA Division II

Transfer Requirements (for Qualifiers who have never attended a four-year)
1. Complete only one semester as a full-time student (12 units)
2. Complete an average of 12 transferable units for that one semester
3. Earn a GPA of 2.2 in those transferable units
4. Earn at least nine transferable units during your one full-time term

If you attend more than one full-time semester, follow the requirements below...(regardless if you are a qualifier or non-qualifier):

1. Complete at least two semesters as a full-time student
2. Complete an average of 12 transferable units per term attended full-time, including:
 - 6 units of transferrable English (1A and 1B/1C)
 - 3 units of transferrable math (3, 8, Stat 18/50, etc…)
 - 3 units of transferrable natural/physical science
3. Earn a GPA of 2.2 in those transferable units
4. Earn at least nine transferable units in your last full-time term

OR...

1. Graduate from your two-year school
2. Complete at least two semesters as a full-time student
3. Earn at least nine transferable units in your last full-time term

NCAA Division III

Transfer Requirements

  • Must be academically/athletically eligible when leaving the two-year school and be accepted to the D-III institution

NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)

Transfer Requirements

  • Must have completed at least 24 transferrable units in your last two semesters of enrollment prior to transfer
  • Must have completed at least 48 transferrable units to be eligible for your third season of competition.
