Students must be enrolled in both a Math and English course for the fall and spring semesters, without dropping a course. Students must be enrolled in at least 12 units for the both the fall and spring semesters and will be strongly encouraged to take at least one course during the winter and summer intercession
The book grant is for active participants during the first semester.
You must meet with a counselor within the program immediately to address concerns related to your eligibility. Unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in our college tours and cultural excursions. However, you may still receive tutoring as a component of the program.
After your first semester/year in college, you may be interested in a unique program offered at PCC. The English 1A course within Ujima qualifies as one of a minimum of six courses needed to complete the Scholars Program. The PCC Scholars Program provides highly motivated students with an intellectually challenging educational experience designed to prepare them for a successful transition from community college to university. The Program includes partnerships between PCC and UCLA (Transfer Alliance Program), Pomona College (PATH), Occidental College (Preferred Admission Agreement), UC Riverside (HART), UC Irvine (Honors Transfer Program) and other institutions. The program offers high-achieving students strong academic preparation and curriculum planning to help them succeed in their major and achieve the B.A./B.S. degree after transfer. In addition to the academically enriched program, Scholars students receive support services from a specially designated counselor and faculty coordinator at the college. Students also begin to forge links with the transfer institutions by attending special orientation programs at the universities. Ask your Ujima counselor or Harry Bloodgood (Counselor, L104) for more information.
