A Welcome From the Dean
Welcome to the English Division!
The English Division at Pasadena City College, a proud Hispanic Serving Institution and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI), is dedicated to serving the needs of its students. Whether learning how to read and write critically, being inspired by great literature, or creating your own great literature, the English Division is committed to supporting you in achieving success and extending your scholarship at four-year colleges or universities, attaining professional and vocational careers, and/or pursuing activities of personal creative development.
The Division provides the core English curriculum for all certificate, degree, and transfer students at PCC and emphasizes an appreciation and understanding of diversity in all of its programs. With specialized programs and highly-qualified and culturally-competent faculty, we are dedicated to advancing equity for all student populations by acknowledging the disproportional representation of historically marginalized groups in educational outcomes (access, retention, degree completion) and by addressing the various cognitive and affective learning styles of our students as we continually reflect on and develop our pedagogical practices.
