Remote Classes FAQs
You’ll continue your class in the learning management system called Canvas. It’s a self-contained system where your instructors can post course materials, assignments, and announcements. You can also submit your assignments and communicate with your instructor in Canvas.
To learn about using Canvas for classes, watch the Student Canvas Overview. You can also watch “how to” Video Guides to learn how to use specific features and tools Canvas.
If a course can no longer be taught remotely, the college will take steps to maintain students’ academic progress. This means suspending the course, offering students Incomplete or In Progress grade status, and working to complete the coursework at a future time when in-person instruction is possible. Specifics will change from course to course; stay in touch with your instructor.
You will not need to be in Canvas during the same times and days as your on-campus class meetings. Your attendance in the remote classroom is based on participating in assigned activities and completing your coursework by their due dates.
We do recommend that you login to your course in Canvas at least once a day, if possible,
to check for announcements or updates from your instructor. Also, make sure to set
your Communication Preferences in Canvas, so that announcements or messages from your instructor will be sent to
your email.
Your instructor will hold the scheduled office hours for the class in Canvas using
a tool called ConferZoom. See the ConferZoom guide to learn how to access office hours.
Contact Olivia Loo, director of international student programs, at (626) 585-7808.

If you have questions about your class and how to participate in it using Canvas, please contact your instructor who can provide this information. Your instructor’s contact information will be on your course syllabus.
