Welcome to the Learning Assistance Center

The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) is a facility designed to offer academic support to students of Pasadena City College for the purpose of promoting scholastic success.

It is located on the third floor of the D building on the campus of PCC, with additional computing labs on the first floor. The main telephone number is (626) 585-7230. Check out the links to the right for more specific information.

LAC Policies

Please observe the following policies while using the LAC:

  • Be sure to scan in and out with your Lancer Card
  • No eating or drinking (only bottled water is allowed)
  • No smoking
  • No children
  • Turn cell phones off or to vibrate, and take calls in the foyers
  • Internet access is for educational use only
  • Materials are for on-site use only, not to be taken out of the LAC. Please do not write in materials or duplicate them, as they are copyrighted and were purchased only for use in our Center.

Resources

Resources available to students include a 42-station computer network which offers interactive software, Internet access (for academic purposes), and a number of applications. All stations are connected to a laser printer. Other media available in the LAC include instructional DVDs. videotapes, programs on CD-ROM, printed materials, and audio tutorials.

Reserve Materials

Faculty members are encouraged to place materials on reserve in the LAC and to have software which could help students placed on the LAC Network. The Center is open 75 hours each week, including evenings and Saturdays.

Tutoring Services

Tutoring is offered on a walk-in basis for various transfer subjects. Students with declared career and technical majors may receive group tutoring in any of their major-related courses as well as support for most transfer subjects.

The Learning Assistance Center has eight full-time staff and approximately forty student assistants who assist in various shifts throughout the week.

Recipient of Honorable Mention by the NCLCA (National College Learning Center Association) / LSCHE (Learning Support Centers in Higher Education) in 2008 for website excellence.
