Vocational ESL (VESL)

The Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) programs at Pasadena City College provide you with an opportunity to work on your English language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) while at the same time preparing for a job or career.

We have career-specific VESL programs (VESL Health Care and VESL Child Care), plus a program to help you prepare for a career in any field (VESL Work Readiness and Communication Skills). In VESL courses, you will engage in hands-on experiential learning which includes guest speakers, field trips, volunteer work experience, and individual and group projects.  We emphasize learning occupation-specific vocabulary and communication skills necessary for interacting with future employers or clients.
