News: PCC Welcomes New Dean Of Health Sciences

Dr. Barbara Freund recently joined the faculty at Pasadena City College as the Dean of the Health Sciences Division after 12 years at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA.

Prior to arriving at PCC, Freund served as an associate professor of medicine and vice-chair for clinical research in the Department of Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. “My primary appointment was in the division of geriatrics where I directed both a clinical and research program in gerontology,” Freund said.

Freund was drawn to PCC because of the Health Sciences Division’s strong programs in allied health. The program offers “great opportunities to meet ever-expanding health care needs,” Freund said. As division dean, Freund hopes to enhance and expand existing programs and develop new initiatives. However, before implementing anything, she plans to carefully consider the needs of students and programs.
