News: PCC's Community Education Center To Receive Federal Grant For Entrepreneur Network

The Pasadena City College Community Education Center (CEC) has been selected to receive a FY2010 appropriation of $150,000 from the U.S. Congress to support its Entrepreneur Network program.

Funds will be used to develop a no-fee, business start-up consultation service, and to help create a series of short-course workshops focusing on business plans, products and services, industry analysis, marketing, funding sources, and fiscal responsibility.

In July, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, allowing for the funding. California Congressman Adam Schiff (D - 29th District) was instrumental in the process in identifying the CEC's Entrepreneur Network as a vital job-training tool for the City of Pasadena.

Since its inception more than three years ago, the Entrepreneur Network has created a bridge between the education and business communities in the San Gabriel Valley, developing four state-approved, non-credit courses relating to business development, and hosting four major community-wide Entrepreneur forum events.

The CEC is at 3035 E. Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena. For more information on the CEC and its programs, call (626) 585-3000.
