Key Note Speaker

Viet Thanh Nguyen, our keynote speaker, is the Aerol Arnold Chair of English and a professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Nguyen is the author of the critically acclaimed novel and 2016 Pulitzer Prize winner, The Sympathizer, as well as as Nothing Ever Dies: Vietnam and the Memory of War. Both works follow in the tradition of storytelling as a means of resistance and reveal the power of stories to transform and empower. His current, The Refugees, is a timely collection of short stories that continues to bring the voices of refugees to the to the forefront and weaves them into the American identify. 

A selection of books by Viet Thang Nguyen will be available before the talk in the PCC bookstore and during the book signing.
