The Risser Outstanding Teacher Award and The Risser Award for Outstanding Support to Education are presented annually to nomimatee PCC employees. The cash award recognizes someone who has given outstanding service and contributions to the College.


The Risser Outstanding Teacher Award

Only currently enrolled Pasadena City College students have an opportunity to nominate PCC faculty members for this award, which is presented annually to a full-time, tenure-track or tenured PCC faculty member. The recipient receives a cash award and their name on the Risser Outstanding Teacher Recognition Plaque, the highest honor for faculty at PCC.

Recipients are awarded for:

  • Quality of instruction
  • Inspiration to students
  • Fair, understandable evaluation and grading
  • Loyalty to the college and to our country
  • Number of times teach has been nominated (please note that previous recipients are not eligible).

Nominations

Only currently enrolled students may start the nomination process of a deserving faculty member; fellow students and other college employees may participate in the process by signing the nomination form(s).

The Nominations period occurs annually during the Spring Semester. Please check back then to download the nomination packet. 


The Risser Award for Outstanding Support to Education

Faculty, staff and students have an opportunity to submit nominations for the Risser Award for Outstanding Support to Education. The cash award will be presented by the Risser family to a member of our educational support staff who meets the following criteria:

  • Support to the educational programs at PCC;
  • Quality job performance;
  • Attitude and qualities of character;
  • Service beyond the job requirements;
  • Loyalty to the College and to our Country; and
  • Number of years nominated. (Please note that previous recipients are not eligible.)

Nominations

Nominees for the Risser Award for Outstanding Support to Education may be members of Pasadena City College’s staff who do not have teaching responsibilities, such as maintenance employees, office personnel, non-teaching counselors, and division deans.

The emphasis is on outstanding service and contributions to the College. The Nomination period occurs annually during the Spring Semester. Please check back then to download the nomination packet.
