Trustee Geoffrey L. Baum, Area 1
In 2009, the California State Senate voted unanimously to confirm Baum’s appointment to the Community Colleges’ Board of Governors. Appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger, Baum will serve a six-year term on the 17-member board, which sets policy and provides guidance for the 72 college districts and 110 campuses that make up the California Community Colleges system. Since 2001, Baum has been part of the leadership team at the University of Southern California. He was assistant dean of USC's Annenberg School for Communication from 2001-08 and now serves as managing director of the School's Center on Communication Leadership and Policy. He worked for C-SPAN as executive producer from 1999 to 2000 and as a senior producer from 1989 to 1993. From 1994 to 1999, he was assistant vice president for marketing and public relations at Claremont McKenna College. In addition, Baum serves on the Board of Directors for the Armory Center for the Arts, the Foothill Family Service advisory board, the Claremont McKenna Alumni Association, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the board of the West Pasadena Residents Association, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Non-fiction Peer Group. Baum holds an M.A. in journalism from USC and a B.A. in economics from Claremont McKenna College. He lives in Pasadena with his wife Lisa and daughter Amy. |

Geoffrey L. Baum was elected to the governing board of the Pasadena Area Community College District in 2001. He represents Trustee Area 1, which includes the City of La Cañada Flintridge, the west Pasadena neighborhoods of San Rafael and Linda Vista, and the western portions of Altadena. Baum served as president of the PCC board during 2005-06.
