Registration

Telephone Registration

  1. Continuing students should call (626) 577-6100 and select the “registration priority” option to find out the earliest date and time you can register. New and returning students—you were given a permit to register in the Admissions office. The permit has your assigned new or returning student registration time on it.
  2. Check the Schedule of Classes or the open class list and select the courses you want.
  3. Pick a list of alternate sections and/or courses to be used if the ones you want are closed.
  4. Check the Schedule of Classes to see if any of the courses you selected have a prerequisite. If you have met the prerequisite by taking a course at PCC after Fall 1981, or you took the placement test for an English, math, or ESL course, the computer will verify the prerequisite for you automatically. If you have met the prerequisite in some other way, such as by a course at another college, or personal or work experience, you must see a counselor before registering.
  5. See a counselor if:
    1. one of the courses you want has a prerequisite and the computer cannot automatically verify it;
    2. you are going to take your first English, Mathematics, or English as a Second Language class at PCC. Advisement based on midterm grades or student-reported information is not binding. You may be removed from classes for which you are not eligible.
  6. For classes which need special approval, such as instructor or Division Dean’s signature or an audition, you must get the required signature and bring it to Counseling Services for course approval data entry.
  7. Before calling to register, you must clear all holds or financial delinquencies. These will prevent your registration. Contact the Business Services office, (626) 585-7336, if you have a delinquency.
  8. You must use a touch tone telephone. A touch tone telephone makes a tone sound after each button is pushed (if your telephone has a switch, make sure the switch is on “tone,” not “pulse”). You cannot use a dial telephone. Most public telephones are touch tone and can be used.
  9. Call (626) 577-6100 at or after your assigned time and select the “registration” option. Follow the simple directions given over the telephone.
  10. The telephone registration system will tell you if a class you want is canceled, closed, has already started, has a class which must be taken along with the one you selected, conflicts in time with one of your other classes, or is a repeat which requires a petition.
  11. The telephone registration system will give you the option of being put on a waiting list or hearing a list of open sections if the class you want is closed. You will have to pay for classes in which you are on the waiting list. If you select to be on the waiting list, you must go to the first class meeting.
  12. Your fee payment must be paid by credit or debit card immediately.
  13. Students who have registered and paid all fees owed may add or drop classes by telephone Monday - Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during (and after) the scheduled registration period.
  14. If the telephone registration system does not seem to be functioning properly, please call (626) 585-7575 between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
  15. Enrollment fee receipts will be available online at Lancerlink by logging in under Other Online Services. If your address has changed, go to the Records office to give the college your current address.
