Travel Requests

As an international student, you must REQUEST TO TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.

Submit the following at least 10 days before travel:

Some facts you should know about international travel paperwork processing:

  • All paper work requests have a 10-business day turn-around time.
  • You will receive an email when complete.
  • Come to ISC counter to pick up the your I-20.

NOTE: Travel to Mexico & Canada

It is never recommended that International students go to either Mexico or Canada to apply for F-1 visas or renew their F-1 visas unless they are citizens or permanent residents of these countries. You must return to your country of citizenship or residence to file these applications. If you choose to take this step, please consult with the International Student Center first.


Letter Requests

Reduce Course Load (RCL) Authorization Form - Medical Reason

With an adequate medical reason, you can apply to take a reduced course load (under 12 units). Complete the following steps for this process:

  1. Complete the Reduce Course Load (RCL) Authorization Form - Medical Reason
  2. Provide an original letter on business letterhead from a licensed doctor
  3. Submit them to the International Student Center (ISC) counter

Concurrent Enrollment Authorization Letter Request

Concurrent enrollment is defined as attending PCC and another SEVIS-approved institution/program at the same time during the fall or spring semester. To request concurrent enrollment:

  1. You must enroll in at least 6 units at PCC.
  2. Complete the Concurrent Enrollment Request Form
  3. Have it signed by the Academic Counselor prior to ISC authorization. (If you enroll for 12 units at PCC, you do not need the Academic Counselor's signature.)
  4. Submit to the ISC counter.
  5. If the ISC approves your request, you will receive an email to pick up the Authorization Letter to present to the school where you would like to enroll.
  6. You must submit to ISC a copy of the registration receipt from the campus you attended under concurrent enrollment within one week after your registration.
  7. Upon completion of the course, you must submit a copy of your final grade to ISC and Records Office within 1 week after grades are posted.

Early Withdrawal from PCC

If for any reason you would like to discontinue your education with Pasadena City College and you plan to leave the United States, you must notify International Students Center.

Complete the steps below:

  1. Complete the Departure Notification Form
  2. Submit to International Students Center counter
  3. If necessary, you can mail your Departure Notification Form to ISC:

      1570 E. Colorado Blvd,
      Pasadena, CA 91106

NOTE: If you withdraw from the college and fail to depart from the United States or fail to submit the Departure Notification, you will be considered as overstaying your visa and violate the U.S. Immigration law.


Transfer Out

The International Student Center will transfer you out to a college or university by your request.

To transfer out:

  1. Complete the SEVIS Transfer Release Form
  2. You will need the following information:
    1. I-20 Number
    2. Name and address of college/university you will transfer to
    3. Transfer start: Quarter/semester and year
    4. Copy of an acceptance letter from the school you will be transferring to
    5. PCC Graduation Petition (pick up in ISC)
  3. Upon turning in the SEVIS Transfer Release Form and acceptance letter, your records will be released to the college/university within the next week of the request.

WARNING: If your plans change, it is very important that you tell the International Student Center BEFORE your release date. If you decide to transfer to a different school, or if you decide not to transfer at all, we will be able to release you to a different school, or pull your records back to PCC as long as you contact ISC before the release date.

If you contact us with changes after the release date, we will no longer have access to your immigration records and will not be able to make the changes that you request.


Updating Your Information

F-1 students are required by U.S. Immigration law to report any changes in their personal information within 10 calendar days.

Change of Information - What to Report

  • Changes must be reported within 10 days.
  • Information includes:
    • new address,
    • new phone number,
    • new e-mail address,
    • change in major/program.

To change contact information in your records:

  1. Complete Student Information Change Form.
  2. Submit form to the ISC.

To change your major/program:

  1. Meet with a counselor to get a new Educational Plan.
  2. Complete Request New I-20 Form.
  3. Submit the form to the ISC:
